Is cutting carbs is the best way to lose weight?
Many people have lost weight on low carb diets such as the Atkins' Diet but there is no evidence they are successful in the long term.
Studies show the short-term effect is mainly from cutting kilojoules. Some low-carb diets are also high in saturated fat, which isn't good for heart health.
For long-term weight loss:
- ignore fad diets
- decrease the kilojoules you consume and
- increase exercise.
