Grow your own vegetables
For good health, we need to eat five or more servings of fruit and vegetables every day, specifically we should have three or more servings of vegetables, so why not grow your own?
Growing vegetables does not need to be hard - an edible garden is as simple as having a few pots outside. It's best to grow vegetables that you and your family enjoy to eat, that way there is no waste.
It is also a great way to get children to enjoy vegetables – it teaches them where food comes from and they are more keen to try new things if they have grown them themselves.
November is a great time to start growing vegetables. Herbs, lettuces, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, beans and courgettes will all thrive if planted now. Start by planting your HEAL lettuce seeds. Plant them not too deep (either in the garden or in a container), place them in a warm sunny spot and water them regularly. Easy!
