Hoopswing
HOOP SWING - Hula hooping has been around for a very long time, it was generally used as a fun recreational toy by the younger ones, but in many countries it is now fast becoming a fitness workout for all age groups. When bringing this into your daily routine you will find it:
- Strengthens your core muscles,
- Trims up your waistline
- Helps you lose those unwanted kilos
- Works on the tummy
- Is an aerobic workout
- Will help lose 10 calories per minute whilst hoop swinging
Beginners and advanced courses are available at a variety of locations around Christchurch, starting at $60 for the 6-week beginners course. Course cost does not include the cost of a hoop.

Bug Polo
Take advantage of the opportunity to play Bug polo at Jellie Park Pool for a fun way to get some exercise over the winter months. Bug polo is Christchurch’s unique sport; it was invented here and is only played here.
Bug polo is a cross between water polo, canoe polo, and netball. It is a social game that is great for mixed teams or people of different ages. The game is played on River Bugs, which are an inflatable craft created by a Christchurch designer for paddling White Water Rivers during the summer.
Bug polo has been around for 11 years and during winter months is played Tuesday and Sunday evenings at Jellie Park. Social games are played on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 9:30pm, from 29th June to 26th September.
Registrations for individuals and teams (of seven) are being taken now. Hurry! First come, first served and space is limited. For more information or to register: contact Denis Maddever (326 5700 or by email, or visit www.bugsports.org
